The Position
West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) invites interest in a career-defining executive opportunity as Executive Director Financial Services. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role sits at the centre of organisational leadership—shaping the financial strategy that underpins sustainable, high-quality care across a growing regional health service. It is an opportunity to bring financial leadership into direct alignment with clinical outcomes, community impact and long-term system sustainability.
This role offers both scale and influence. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Director Financial Services leads financial strategy, governance and sustainability, with oversight of procurement, business intelligence and commercial performance. The position contributes broadly to enterprise decision-making across services, workforce, capital and partnerships, providing rigorous strategic analysis and translating complex financial, clinical and operational data into clear, evidence-based options for Executive and Board consideration. The role also represents WGHG in regional and system-level forums, contributing to collaboration and future service planning across the Gippsland health system.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior executive with significant experience in financial leadership within a complex public sector or health environment. The appointee will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, deep expertise in financial governance, statutory compliance and capital planning, and a proven capacity to advise Boards and Executive teams as a trusted strategic partner. A values-led leadership approach, combined with the ability to lead high-performing teams and influence enterprise-wide decision-making, will be critical to success.
