The Position 
The QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute seeks a collegiate and inspiring executive to take a leading role in supporting the Institute in the achievement of its vision, mission, goals and objectives through ensuring the operational robustness, strategic development and delivery of fit for purpose properties and facilities services.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and with four direct reports, QIMB Berghofer is appointing an experienced General Manager, Properties and Facilities (GMPF) who will ensure the Institute’s infrastructure supports world-class research while meeting compliance standards, safety regulations, and sustainability goals. This role is pivotal in providing strategic direction and management for Building Services, Building Security, Institute Stores, and Property Services and will develop and implement infrastructure objectives, policies, and programs aligned with QIMR Berghofer’s strategic roadmap. As a key strategic partner to the COO, the GMPF will promote active engagement between teams and will coordinate large-scale projects, including refurbishments.

The GMPF will bring proven experience in a senior property, infrastructure, facilities or building services leadership role, with broad project management expertise and deep commercial acumen. Possessing exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage teams across multiple disciplines and knowledge of quality and compliance standards related to highly regulated infrastructure settings, the GMPF will bring deep knowledge in budget management and strategic planning for large-scale, highly complex infrastructure and facilities and relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive and relevant industry experience, Demonstrated experience in managing complex facilities within a research or university environment would be advantageous but not essential.
