The Position

The Directorate of Clinical Informatics and Innovation, within the Commission on Excellence and Innovation (CEIH) in South Australia, strategically focuses on maximising and enhancing the health sectors rich data assets, building capability in clinical informatics and providing better access to data across the health system to inform the creation of better healthcare.

Reporting to the Executive Director Clinical Informatics and Innovation, the Program Director Cancer Data and Intelligence (CANDI), will lead the building of clinical informatics and health translation capabilities within the health system. Strategically leading the project “Cancer Data and Intelligence”, the Program Director will build and lead a high performing team to deliver the primary work packages of the project. These will include the establishing a cancer data spine utilising data available within SA Health, integration and enrichment of a data repository and ensuring usability ranging from clinician-patient interface, clinical trials and system wide epidemiology. The project will leverage modern and advanced technologies and innovative design approaches, often working in partnership, to enhance effectiveness and ensure sustainability.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in the use of modern technologies and analytics, with experience in the delivery of technical and analytical solutions.  A solid understanding of modern architecture (including cloud architecture and data warehousing) will be essential for the design and implementation of the projects’ technical solutions. The incumbent will engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders across the health landscape (clinicians, consumers, industry partners and government) and establish solid governance structures to ensure the project’s success. Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, clinical informatics or aligned discipline or clinical qualifications with experience in related program management will be essential. Leadership within an environment that has undergone major transformational change will be highly desirable.
