The Brief
A not-for-profit organisation approached Future Leadership to assist in the search of their next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), building on the fantastic contributions of the outgoing CEO, there is considerable opportunity for the incoming incumbent to further develop the impact of the organisation.
Building on the proud 15-year history and the significant work done creating and growing a stable foundation with strong government support, the incoming CEO would work with an emerging group of supporters and allies in Australia and grow and leverage those relationships. With this in mind, a key priority for the organisation included having an experienced vibrant and engaging leader with well-developed communication skills, which include public speaking and advanced network building skills.

The Process
Following the initial briefing provided by the Chair and Board Members, Future Leadership commenced the executive search utilising known networks and sources and reaching out to over 85 professionals in the sector.
The search process was supported by an online and advertising campaign. Following initial calibrations with the organisation on the candidate field, Future Leadership undertook extensive candidate assessment and interviews. A Longlist Report was presented to the selection committee on five qualified candidates across peak and advocacy leadership capacities, with four progressing to first round panel interview.
The Outcome
Following an extensive assessment and interview process, the successful candidate was appointed to the CEO position. A Principal of their own consulting practice, they provided advice to impact focused companies, foundations, and initiatives.
With extensive related Chief Executive Officer experience, they worked to align diverse stakeholders across the globe, collaborating with a team of 30 FTEs and over 190 network leaders. The candidate was selected because of their strong reputation and profile and ability to engage with stakeholders. In their role as CEO, they will work with an engaged group of supporters and allies in Australia and grow and leverage those relationships. Strengthening key stakeholder relationships and being informed by and learning from broader networks national and internationally will be key to success in the role.
