The Brief

A leading health insurer engaged Future Leadership to design and facilitate a one-hour workshop session as part of its Senior Leaders Forum. The session brought together approximately 150–160 senior leaders from across the business.

The primary objectives were to:

  • Strengthen collaboration in the context of strategy.
  • Deepen participants’ understanding and application of Enterprise Leadership and Network Leadership.
  • Deliver a fun, engaging, and reflective experience that would inspire behavioural shifts aligned with strategic direction

The Process

The session was structured around a dynamic and interactive format, combining teaching, self-assessment, and experiential learning:

Context Setting: The session opened with a recap of Enterprise and Network Leadership principles, highlighting the evolution of collaboration required to deliver on the strategy.

Collaboration Spectrum: Participants were introduced to the Collaboration Spectrum model and completed a digital self-assessment based on recent work experiences. This tool helped individuals reflect on their current collaboration behaviours and identify areas for growth.

Experiential Activity – “Building in the Dark”: Teams engaged in a hands-on Lego-based challenge designed to simulate varying levels of collaboration. Each team received a box with a design brief, loose Lego pieces, and assigned roles. The activity required teams to navigate ambiguity, role clarity, and interdependence—mirroring real-world collaboration challenges .

Debrief and Reflection: The session concluded with a facilitated debrief, where participants shared insights from the activity and their self-assessments. They were also invited to commit to one personal action to role model collaboration moving forward
