Date Posted:29 April 2026

Conducting an Executive Search for a Chief Financial Officer to drive financial leadership, governance and transformation across a multi-site agricultural equipment group

The Brief

Future Leadership™ was engaged by a privately owned, multi‑site organisation operating across regional Australia to appoint a Chief Financial Officer. The organisation is an established provider of equipment and services supporting a range of primary production and land‑based industries, with a broad operational footprint and geographically dispersed workforce.
The appointment formed a critical component of the organisation’s executive leadership capability as it continued to mature its corporate services model and strengthen enterprise‑wide financial discipline.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Financial Officer role was positioned as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. The remit encompassed finance and accounting, financial planning and analysis, sales administration, people and safety oversight, special projects and contribution to broader organisational strategy.
The organisation sought a forward‑thinking, commercially astute finance executive with strong governance capability and proven experience leading transformation in complex, multi‑site environments. Beyond financial stewardship, the CFO was expected to play a pivotal role in shaping organisational culture, improving operational efficiency and supporting sustainable growth across regional locations.

The Process

Future Leadership™ undertook a comprehensive executive search process tailored to the organisation’s ownership structure, operating environment and strategic priorities.
An initial briefing phase was conducted with key stakeholders to clarify role scope, leadership expectations and the capabilities required to support transformation across finance and corporate services. This engagement ensured alignment on immediate priorities as well as the longer‑term strategic contribution expected of the appointment.
A targeted search strategy followed, focused on senior finance leaders with strong commercial acumen and experience operating in privately owned or entrepreneurial environments. The Future Leadership™ team leveraged its national executive network and proprietary database to identify potential candidates with relevant sector exposure and leadership depth. This direct search activity was complemented by a targeted online campaign to broaden market reach.
The process resulted in a shortlist of highly experienced candidates, including an internal candidate. Shortlisted executives progressed through formal panel interviews with members of the organisation’s senior leadership team. Comprehensive reference checking and probity assessments were completed prior to final decision‑making, supporting a rigorous and evidence‑based selection process.

The Outcome

leadership roles, with a demonstrated track record in strategic growth, business transformation and operational excellence.
The appointed executive demonstrated strong alignment with the organisation’s values and strategic direction and brought broad commercial capability, governance expertise and a collaborative leadership style. Their experience positioning finance as a strategic partner to operations and executive leadership has strengthened financial oversight and enhanced the organisation’s capacity to support sustainable performance and future growth.
