The Brief

Future Leadership™ partnered with a leading independent Islamic school in Australia  to appoint a Principal who serves as both Chief Executive Officer and the educational leader at the school.

The successful appointee is responsible to the Board for implementing and managing the educational policies, regulations, and procedures of the school to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education within a safe Islamic environment; and for overseeing the administrative and financial programs of the school.

The Process

Led by Liz Jones, Future Leadership™ conducted a targeted national search process:

  • Search and Advertising: Implemented a national advertising campaign and engaged directly with 85 known individuals to explore their interest or seek referrals.
  • Internal Candidate Management: Included two internal candidates in the evaluation process to ensure a holistic approach.
  • Candidate Assessment: Presented 11 candidates to the school with comprehensive assessment reports and background checks.

This process ensured a diverse and competitive candidate pool, with the successful appointee recommended through Future Leadership’s network.

The Outcome

An experienced leader with a strong connection to the school was appointed as Principal, commencing in January 2022.

  • The appointee joined the School in 2021 as Director of Faith and Australian Islamic Identity.
  • Held a key role in the School Executive in which they worked to strengthen the School’s Islamic values and ethos in an Australian context.
