The Brief

Following a longstanding engagement with the organisation, having assisted in the appointment of multiple Executives over the previous years, Future Leadership was once again selected to assist in the search process for a General Manager, Finance and Technology (CFO) role. A preliminary briefing was held with the CEO and Head of People and Culture.

The organisation sought an Executive to be the organisational lead for finance and technology/systems and bring vision and creativity to the long-term strategic planning and development and delivery of key strategic and organisational priorities. The successful candidate will have high level analytical skills and work across the organisation, bringing stakeholders together to identify operational imperatives for improvement and work collaboratively to problem-solve and develop future focused Solutions; and possess exceptional people skills and be an influential and respectful voice, fostering collaborative relationships.

The Process

A national search was undertaken, supported by an online advertising campaign. Senior level strategic leaders within complex environments and similar organisations in the not-for-profit and human services sectors were sought, including candidates with strong alignment to the organisations values.

A diverse Longlist of seven candidates was presented with a high regard for the organisation within the marketplace. We conducted an extensive reach out and engagement of prospective and referred candidates of >100 and 108 formal expressions of interest were received, including one internal candidate. Longlist candidates came from various sectors including not for profit, higher education, disability, community services, health, manufacturing and government. Five candidates were shortlisted.

The Outcome

The successful appointee – a highly qualified CFO with over 15 years experience, brining a history of broad leadership responsibility across financial management, as well as HR, IT, warehouse and operations, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions/integrations, crisis and change management, and digital transformation.
