  • Lead strategic finance, governance and operations in a values‑driven school
  • Key executive role supporting the Principal and Board during a period of renewal
  • Shape sustainable futures through strong commercial and governance leadership

The Position

Siena College, Camberwell seeks to appoint a new Director of Business Services and Company Secretary. Reporting directly to the Principal, this pivotal appointment is a member of the College Executive and Leadership Team and serves as an ex officio member of the College Board, acting as Company Secretary. This appointment comes at a time of significant change within the school, with a new Principal and several new senior leaders joining the College.

The Director of Business Services and Company Secretary provides strategic leadership across all non-academic operations of the College, including finance, IT, property and asset management, risk and compliance, corporate governance, marketing, and admissions. The role oversees financial sustainability, master planning, asset utilisation and business operations, while ensuring robust governance frameworks and compliance with all legislative and regulatory obligations. With responsibility for a capable and established leadership team, the Director will play a critical role in enabling the College’s strategic priorities and long-term viability. Working closely with the Principal and the Chairs of the Finance, Strategic Property and Risk Committees the Director will ensure sound stewardship of the College’s financial, operational and governance responsibilities.

The successful candidate will bring strong commercial acumen and demonstrated experience leading finance, governance and business operations within a complex organisation, ideally an independent school or similarly regulated environment. Professional qualifications in finance or accounting (CPA or CA) and proven experience working with Boards and Committees are essential, along with a sound understanding of corporate governance, risk management and compliance obligations. The ability to provide confident, strategic advice, oversee sustainable financial planning, and “hit the ground running” will be critical. Equally important will be a collaborative and relational leadership style, high‑level communication skills, personal integrity and a calm, pragmatic approach to supporting the Principal and Board through a period of renewal, change and strategic rebuilding.
